Hello! My name is DJ Cabanlong, I am a sports photographer based in the Las Vegas/Henderson, Nevada area.
Growing up, I played numerous sports such as: Basketball, Hockey, Football, and more. I always had love for sports whether it be watching or playing. Sports photography is where two of my biggest passions become one.
I am a graduate from the University of Nevada Las Vegas as a Journalism major with a concentration in Sports Media. UNLV is where I took the biggest steps in my career as a photographer. At UNLV, I was the photo editor for the university's newspaper: The Scarlet & Gray Free Press. I also was a intern photographer with UNLV athletics.
I have worked with many teams and organizations in the Las Vegas area. I had my first opportunity working as a sports photographer for B-League Las Vegas, an organized volleyball and basketball league in Las Vegas, in 2022. I took pictures for their marketing and social media team. Since then, I have had the opportunity to freelance for teams such as: The Seattle Storm, The Las Vegas Raiders, Tulsa University Softball, Purdue University Wrestling, Stanford Men's Basketball, and Northwestern University Volleyball are some who I have freelanced for.
In August 2024, I had the honor of receiving Sports Photo of the year at the Collegiate level from the Nevada Press Foundation.
Today, I serve as a staff photographer for The Sporting Tribune and a Freelance Photographer for The Las Vegas Review Journal. I am always looking to grow and seek opportunities when it comes to photography!
